Five relationship contradictions

  • My partner must work hard and make a steady living — yet he or she must be present and available to me at all times.
  • My partner must be unique and independent — yet change in every way that suits me.
  • My partner must love me unconditionally — yet his or her doing so is a necessary condition for me to love my partner in return.
  • My partner must never love someone other than me — yet by imposing this rule I’m implying that I’m not very lovable.
  • My partner must be strong — strong enough to help me when I’m weak.
